“We Believe, We Strive, We Achieve”

Principal’s Welcome

As Principal of St. Fanchea’s College, I am delighted to welcome you to our college website. It will provide you with a glimpse into life in our school.

St. Fanchea’s College is a non-selective girl’s school routed in Catholic ethos and tradition, founded by the Sisters of Mercy in Enniskillen in 1960. Sr. Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy embodied values of “serenity, gentleness, reserve, prudence, patience, self-esteem and courtesy”. While some of these words may seem old fashioned, these are still the values we want to instil in our girls today.

At St Fanchea’s College, we place the children at the centre of all that we do. When we see a student, we do not see a grade or a label; we see a child, with potential, and it is our mission to add value by helping them achieve. Our school is a warm, encouraging, productive place. Through our excellent pastoral care system, we get to know the children. We listen to their voices as learners and make them feel valued and supported. We celebrate diversity and create an inclusive culture. We guide each individual in finding out what they are good at and encourage them to make the most of their gifts and talents. We recognise that every child has a different starting point. We are experienced at assessing and meeting educational need, enabling each child to overcome obstacles and maximise their potential.

We offer a broad curriculum from Year 8 to Year 14 providing a varied and rich learning experience. We offer both academic and vocational pathways at Key Stage 4, tailoring curriculum provision to meet pupil need while at the same time challenging each pupil to do her best. At St. Fanchea’s College learning continues outside the classroom. We present opportunities for the girls to get involved in sporting teams, extra-curricular clubs, fundraising and community-based events, developing them as contributors to society and providing them with a chance to develop key life skills. We know the world today is a challenging place for young people. We also work in partnership with outside agencies to deliver support and learning experiences that equip the girls to be able to manage the challenges of life in the 21st century.

In 2025 at the college, we will reach our 65-year anniversary. Over the past 65 years and further back we have been inspired and led by strong women. Our anniversary will give us a chance to celebrate the generations of young women who have passed through the doors of the college.

At Saint Fanchea’s College, we believe in each individual child. We strive alongside them, working in partnership with parents, to ensure that each child achieves success and develops a clear future pathway.

Please take some time to explore our website and visit our Facebook page to find out more about life in the college.
